What's in a name?

The heritage of the name Bennelong comes from a native Eora aborigine who, in 1789, was instrumental in serving as go-between with first governor Arthur Phillip (and his colonists) and the indigenous people of the Sydney Cove region. It also became the name of the site on which the Sydney Opera House is built, Bennelong Point.
